Modern Downtown Dallas Wedding

When I first started peeling back the layers of this Dallas “I do,” one thing became clear: Connie and Tyler aren’t you’re average bride and groom. Not even close. They’ve got contagious joy and style for days, but they also happen to have the kind of dance moves that would make Justin Timerlake jealous, and we’ve got the video to prove it! Take a peek at their incredible celebration captured by Michelle Boyd and sit tight for their choreographed first dance (and proposal!) coming up next.

From Michelle Boyd PhotographyConnie and Tyler Bates are visionaries. They both live life with a contagious passion that you just can’t help but join in on. I’ve known Connie for a few years, and after seeing their incredible proposal video I knew that their wedding would be EPIC. They didn’t disappoint.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Dallas, TX, the Room on Main was transformed into a space worthy of the production that was to follow. Both Connie and Tyler have invested a large part of their lives into leadership through performance, and their wedding celebration was a perfect reflection of that. Their modern yet bold fashion allowed for their fierceness to shine through, and their hearts for traveling to the nations were manifested in globes and maps all around the room.

In the true Bates way of celebrating, their ceremony and reception was complete with videos and dancing in abundance! Ingredients dance company moved the processional down the aisle and led guests in worship during communion… and fittingly, everything built up to their first dance as husband and wife, complete with amazing choreography and a perfect wardrobe change. With such an incredibly talented group of guests in attendance, it was no wonder that the dance party to follow was a high-energy, amazing experience!

Sparkly New Year’s Eve Wedding

I’ve been following Rhi of Hey Gorgeous Events ever since I landed in the wedding industry, but it’s not without good reason. She’s one of the best and brightest in the biz, and when Rhi sent us her latest wedding work of art – a pink and gold New Year’s Eve celebration - I pored over every image from Jen and Jonah longer than I care to admit. Take a peek back at this sweet couple’s engagement, and don’t miss the gallery + Studio 213 Films’ amazing video for a whole lot more.

From Hey Gorgeous EventsKatie and Bryan were married on New Year’s Eve at the Contemporary Art’s Center in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio (their beautiful engagement session was actually featured on Style Me Pretty that same day about an hour before Katie walked down the aisle!) Dear friends and family travelled from near and far not only to ring in a new year but to love on the sweet couple as they started a new chapter in their love story. Aside from the gorgeous bride and the handsome groom, the event had so many details tied in with the bride’s love for blush, peach, mint and gold. The big overhead ceremony aisle canopy made completely out of ribbon, lush blush, peach and white florals in gold vessels, sequin linens that sparkled when the light hit at the right time, a massive dance floor ceiling treatment that set the tone for the reception party; this wedding really had it all and more.

Yet right before I sent up the signal to the bridal party to let them know the processional was about to start, we got some bad news. Katie had lost her engagement ring. As the string quartet played, the guests eagerly anticipated the bride’s big reveal, and poor Bryan stood at the alter confused and wondering what was going on (sorry Bryan!), Katie and her girls were scrambling around trying to find her ring at what probably was the worst time to be doing so. I met her halfway up to the bridal suite to get things back on track and told her all that mattered in that moment was the kind groom waiting for her at the alter. And that we would find the ring no matter what. Her Dad held her hand, she shook her head, wiped away a few tears and together they trekked down the thirty plus stairs to the 250 awaiting guests. The ceremony began at long last and the show went on.

Immediately after I sent Katie off down the aisle, we got the news that the ring had been found; by a very gracious janitorial employee who had discovered the ring sitting in the corner of the venue restroom! From there the ring went from the hands of the employee to my husband, to a guest, to the videographer, to the photographer, to the best man, to the groom and finally back into the hands of our sweet bride. Katie was reunited with her most special piece of jewelry at the exact moment when it came time to exchange the rings. Bryan was a little confused as to we he was handed three rings instead of the two he was expecting but Katie burst into happy tears at the sight of thought to be long lost possession. There would continue to be many more moments of happy tears and sheer joy that day, all of which shined brighter than any diamond ring.

When it came close to midnight everyone stood on the dance floor and counted down to the start of 2014 via the large screen which was live streaming the Times Square coverage. At midnight a confetti canon erupted sprinkling colored bits over all of the happy guests embracing their loved ones as Auld Lang Syne began to softly play. It was beyond a pleasure being a small sliver of the Sapp’s happily ever after, and an honor to work with such a talented team who made it all possible.

From The Bride…I feel that Anthony and I are the epitome of ‘what’s meant to be will be’, and that theme shined through on our wedding day. We fell in love with our gorgeous beachfront venue, so we decided to take on the challenge of planning our wedding in just four months in order to secure our dream location. With the help of the amazing team at Before I Do Events and all of our incredible vendors, it proved to be no challenge at all, and everything easily fell into place just perfectly as it was meant to be, for the big day.

We wanted our wedding to be classic with romantic hints of vintage, and Parisian-inspired touches throughout. Most of all, we wanted the wedding to be ‘us’. From the wood planks that lined the aisle with the things we love about each other (how Anthony proposed), to our personally written vows, to our family-style dinner from one of our favorite restaurants, to our basketball themed grand entrance (yes, my husband dunked in his tux), to our delicious dessert bar – it was a night centered around everything we love, including each other and our dearest friends and family.

Love and genuineness filled the room, and we had a blast dancing the night away. We also made it a point to take some time out together to take it all in, which was great since time flew by. After the party ended and Anthony and I got back to our hotel, and we did an impromptu photo shoot on the beach, and we then found ourselves playing ping pong in our wedding clothes (then maybe or maybe not headed to Jack in the Box). It was the best, most perfect night because it was just so ‘US’.

Modern Beach House Wedding Inspiration

Backyard weddings are one of our favorite genres. They’re personalized and cozy and dripping in laid back elegance. And if that backyard happens to be mere feet from the ocean, consider it a whole new level of awesome. This photo shoot is oceanfront beauty paired with chic modern details and the idea of a casual beach house get together. Conceptualized and crafted by Lavender & TwineCassidy Rae Events and These Bud’s A Blooming, these images will have you rethinking that backyard affair and maybe moving it seaside.

From Lavender & TwineThe inspiration for this modern and romantic shoot was sparked by an incredible tiled wall–a wall accenting a one of a kind modern beach house. We wanted to help couples think outside of the box, and inspire a fresh take on a modern beach wedding. With a mixed palette of neutrals, greens, and whites with pops of oranges and gold, this is the perfect combination for a modern yet elegant wedding.

The stunning floral arrangements were provided by These Buds A Blooming. Allie put something together more gorgeous than I ever imagined. I mean, did you see that bouquet?! The soft textures in the arrangements combined with the edginess of the succulents and pops of color are a perfect fit with this modern vibe.

Incredible linens were provided by La Tavola. The textured grey linen cloth was the perfect anchor for the table design with dishware provided by Town and Country Rentals. The modern print napkins added a little something extra special. The custom silverware gave the perfect balance of modern elegance.

The cake was provided by The Sugar Lab with a last minute placement of an air-plant as the cake topper. It was the perfect finish to the intentional imbalance of the cake. The use of geometric shapes and blocks made this cake truly something special.

Our gorgeous bride looked amazing in a Paolo Sebastian gown that continued the grey palette through the wardrobe. Crystal Robinson Makeup did an amazing job styling the already stunning brides hair and makeup.
